A mirage is a genuine optical phenomenon caused by the refraction of light, what the image appears to represent, however, is determined by the interpretive faculties of the human mind. In urban environments, when birds fly toward reflective glass windows that present deceptive natural habitats, is the fictional imagination amplified by desire, or is it simply an instinctive intuition? Dwelling on the Mirage employs a stream-of-consciousness philosophical reflection, taking the fatal moment of a bird’s collision as “the mark on the wall” to excavate the underlying forces such as the exploitation of resources by those in power, and the psychological manipulate and alienation induced by technological traps. It reflects on the interconnected destinies shared by marginalized human and non-human within overlapping contexts of ecological hierarchies and geopolitical dynamics.
