About

Xinlyu Wang, born in 1997 in Wuhan, China, currently lives and works in Chicago, USA, and is a second-year graduate student in the Art and Technology & Sound Practices program at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Her practice spans installation, moving image, web-based projects, and site-specific investigations. She focuses on how alienated collectives, narratives, and languages within inherent structures co-generate with their environments to compose an ever-evolving complex system, in which subtle dynamics of domestication, resistance, and intimacy unfold. Through the use of metaphor, she builds implicit links across species, matters, and technologies, transforming ineffable inner perceptions and emotions into stories that can be collectively told.
